Abstract
Information on the effects of exposure to crystalline silica (7631869) is reviewed. Published studies of medical tests of silicosis patients, case reports, and industrial population surveys are summarized along with research findings on the relationship between silica exposure and cancer incidence. In-vitro and laboratory animal test results also are reviewed. Exposure estimates derived from environmental monitoring surveys and medical evaluations of exposed workers are discussed, and industrial exposure control measures are described. Also reviewed are methods used for crystalline silica sampling and analysis.
