Failure Report No. S304.
NIOSH 1979 Mar:18 pages
Test results using the NIOSH analytical method S304 for tetraethyl- dithionopyrophosphate (3689245) (TEDP) vapor are reported. The method involves samples collection on a sorbent medium, desorption with ethyl-acetate (141786), and analysis by gas chromatography with a flame photometric detector. Tests results using XAD-2 (9060053), Tenax-GC, Chromosorb-108, Chromosorb-102 (9003707), and charcoal (16291966) sorbents are included along with breakthrough, stability and recovery rate data for charcoal and Chromosorb-102. The method was unsatisfactory because significant amounts of TEDP aerosol were found along with the vapor, and insufficient time was available to validate a combined filter and vapor sampling train method.
