Test results using the NIOSH analytical method S171 for oxalic-acid (144627) with an ultraviolet detector and by gas chromatography are reported. Samples were analyzed by high pressure liquid chromatography using a flame ionization detector after derivatization. Analytical procedures are described along with the technique used to form the volatile trimethylsilyl derivative. Data on the calibration, recovery rate and sample loss is included. Neither procedure was adequate for analyzing both particulate and vaporous oxalic-acid.
