Diethylaminoethanol Analytical Method.

The NIOSH analytical method S140 for determining diethylaminoethanol (100378) in air is described. Samples are collected on silica-gel (10193369), treated with hydrochloric-acid (7647010), desorbed with a methanol (67561) and water solution, and analyzed by gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector. The working range of the method is 25 to 113 milligrams per cubic meter, the coefficient of variance is 0.056, and the detection limit is 0.05 milligrams per sample. Analytical apparatus, and reagents are described, and calculations for determining the chemical concentration in the sample are provided. Data on desorption efficiency and recover, stability and breakthrough rates is included.
