Failure Report No. S159.
NIOSH 1977 Sep:4 pages
Test results using the NIOSH analytical method S159 for p- phenylenediamine (106503) are reported. p-Phenylene-diamine is converted to its salt by collection on sulfuric acid treated silica- gel (10193369) or in impingers containing sulfuric-acid (7664939), and is analyzed using a liquid chromatographic procedure. Data on collection efficiency for the impinger and silica gel is included along with results of tests using various chromatographic and sample solvents. No solvent was found which would inhibit the autoxidation of p-phenylene-diamine and was compatible with liquid chromatographic analysis.
