The NIOSH analytical method S85 for determining methyl-acetylene (74997) and propadiene (463490) mixtures in air is described. Samples are collected in a gas sampling bag and analyzed by flame ionization detection. The working range of the method is 480 to 1,990 parts per million, the coefficient of variance is 0.048, and the limit of detection is less than 10 nanograms. Analytical apparatus, reagents and procedures are described together with sample collection and shipping techniques. Methods for calibration and standardization also are included. Data on sample recovery and stability rates is provided.
