Worker exposures to vinyl-chloride (75014) were investigated at Ross and Roberts, Incorporated (SIC-2824) in Stratford, Connecticut, on July 2, 1974. The survey was part of a NIOSH study of the occupational health effects of vinyl-chloride. The company employed about 330 workers. The company had no formal safety and industrial hygiene program. Medical services were provided by a consulting physician. The production area of the facility was toured but no sampling for vinyl-chloride was conducted because the facility was not in operation. Deficiencies in the ventilation systems were noted. The author recommends implementation of a safety, industrial hygiene and medical program at this facility.
