Results of Air Samples at Ruberoid Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri.
NIOSH 1969 Jun:4 pages
Air sampling for asbestos (1332214) dust was conducted at the Ruberoid Corporation (SIC-3011) in St. Louis, Missouri in January, 1967. Sampling was performed with an impinger and a membrane filter. Breathing zone samples taken with the impinger contained from 0.4 million particles per cubic foot (mppcf) near the vacuum lift to 23.2mppcf near a saw operator. General air impinger samples ranged from 0.3mppcf near the trim machine to 6.1mppcf near the shingle machine. Membrane filter breathing zone samples ranged from unmeasurable to 31.2 fibers greater than 5 microns in length per milliliter (f/ml) near one saw operator. Personal air samples taken with a membrane filter ranged from unmeasurable to 21.6f/ml near one saw operator. Asbestos dust samples taken with both the impinger and membrane filter exceeded the Threshold Limit Valve of 2mppcf by impinger or 12 fibers longer than 5 microns per cubic centimeter by membrane filter.
