NIOSH 1966 Jul:12 pages
Air sampling for asbestos (1332214) dust was conducted at the Raybestos Manhattan Textile Company (SIC-2221) in Charleston, South Carolina, during May, 1965. Sampling was performed with an impinger and a membrane filter sampler. Impinger collected breathing zone samples contained up to 10.6 million particles per cubic foot of asbestos. Breathing zone samples taken with the membrane filter contained up to 6.4 fibers greater than 10 microns per cubic centimeter (f/cc). Personal air samples contained up to 16.2f/cc. Only concentrations in the blender area exceeded the current threshold limit value of 5mppcf of asbestos dust.
