Development of Air Sampling and Analytical Methods for Toxic Chlorinated Organic Compounds, Contract No. 210-78-0012, Research Report for Hexachlorocyclopentadiene.

A sampling and analytical method for the determination of trace concentrations of hexachlorocyclopentadiene (77474) (HCCP) in air is described. The method is based on the collection of HCCP with a solid sorbent, (Porapak T), desorption of the compound with hexane and analysis by gas chromatography with electron capture detection. The average HCCP recovery using this method was over 100 percent relative to impinger sampling in the range of 13 to 865 micrograms per cubic meter.
