Abstract
Industrial and community sewage treatment processes are described. Pre, primary, secondary, and sludge treatment are discussed. Worker exposure to specific physical and chemical hazards, estimated numbers of workers employed by the industry, growth trends, occupational safety and health statistics, and the biologic effects of human exposure are discussed. A health hazard evaluation of a treatment facility at a commercial airline overhaul base is reviewed and pertinent standards are presented.
