An information profile on the potential occupational hazards in the manufacture of paint and allied products (SIC-2851) is presented. Process descriptions, relevant chemical and physical hazards, number of workers exposed or employed, biologic effects of chemical agents encountered, incidence of injury and illness, and existing exposure standards are included. No pertinent NIOSH Health Hazard Evaluations were available for review. The authors conclude that workers in the paint trades may be exposed to numerous, potentially hazardous chemical agents.
