An information profile on the potential occupational hazards in the petroleum refining industry (SIC-2911) is presented. Process descriptions, relevant chemical and physical agents, the number of workers exposed or employed, biologic effects of agents encountered, and existing exposure standards are included. Incidence of mortality, injury, and morbidity is given. Two pertinent NIOSH Health Hazard Evaluations are reviewed.
