Control Technology Summary Report on the Primary Nonferrous Metals Industry. Volume III. Appendix B: Review of the Testimony Presented at the 1975/6 OSHA Public Hearing on Inorganic Arsenic.
NIOSH 1978 Dec:105 pages
Testimony related to control technology in the nonferrous metals industry presented at public hearings in April 1975 and September 1976 is evaluated. The hearings primarily addressed a proposed standard for inorganic arsenic (7440382) exposure. Significant testimony dealing with control technology and personal exposure in the nonferrous metals industry was contributed by four major companies, several private consultants, and OSHA. Each major exhibit related to control technology and personal exposure is discussed, and reprints of selected exhibits are included. Major issues and conclusions resulting from the testimony indicate that a control strategy including engineering and administrative controls, personal protective equipment, work practices, maintenance, and housekeeping is required to effectively control workroom arsenic exposure within the OSHA proposed exposure limit of 10 micrograms per cubic meter.
