Toxic neuropathies are reviewed based on a classification scheme that uses the neuropathological approach of the structure most altered. Information on pathological reactions, clinical syndromes, frequencies and site of attack and typical toxins is summarized along with a partial listing of common industrial environmental and pharmaceutical agents. The authors recommend that the neurologist ask the patient for information about contact with agents to identify causes of toxic neuropathy.
