A general description is given of the computer program documentation for the NIOSH Information Processing System for the Medical Examination Program under the Federal Coal Mine Health and Safety Act of 1969. The purpose of the system is to process data on X-rays of coal miners in support of the provisions of the foregoing Act and of the Federal Black Lung Benefits Act of 1972. The two types of input data are provided by the Receiving Center of ALFORD in the form of 9-track magnetic computer tape (800bpi). The system has four major functions to perform, and there are four types of actions it can take for each input record. The various master files, flow chart, computer programs, and support facilities are described.
