Development of an Engineering Control Research and Development Plan for Carcinogenic Materials.
NIOSH 1977 Apr:168 pages
An engineering control research plan was formulated to provide a priority listing of industries and/or carcinogenic materials for future NIOSH engineering control research. Major carcinogenic substances are categorized on the basis of potential industry and use. Types of engineering controls and the levels of their use were determined. Additional engineering control research needs for carcinogenic substances were identified. Currently available information regarding level of use, exposure, and industrial processing of carcinogenic substances was obtained by literature review, consultation with technical and professional societies, and plan visits. Priorities and recommendations for future research projects are given.
