Papers delivered at the NIOSH cosponsored 36th AMA Congress on Occupational Health conducted at Rochester, New York, in September 1976 are presented. The report is a product of the continuing cooperation between NIOSH and the AMA for the purpose of developing information to assist private practitioners with part time occupational medicine responsibilities. The areas of concentration include: 1) medical roles in workers' compensation; 2) radiation; 3) medical recordkeeping and surveillance; 4) interdisciplinary teamwork in the health and safety professions; 5) medical relationships with unions and management; 6) when workers fly; 7) how to conduct a walk-through survey; and 8) women at work. The text highlights aspects of occupational medicine most significant to part time plant physicians and to private medical practitioners with related interests.
