NIOSH Analytical Method, Dinitrotoluene, Backup Data Report S215, (Set 3).
NIOSH 1977 Nov:17 pages
The backup data report is given for validating the method for determining dinitrotoluene (121142) in the air. Samples were analyzed regarding collection efficiency of the cellulose ester membrane filter connected in series to a backup bubbler, the storage stability, and the precision and accuracy of the method. Experiments showed that dinitrotoluene is present as both particulate and vapor, that dinitrotoluene can be successfully recovered from alumina, that under high humidity conditions dinitrotoluene is not adsorbed onto the alumina, and that the filter bubbler combination is satisfactory for dinitrotoluene collection. The coefficient of variation is 0.063. Attachments give procedures for generation of organic particulates, test atmospheres, and known humidity of the atmospheres; and a summary of statistical terms and formulas and schematic of sample generation facilities.
