Brominated Aromatic Compounds "Information Profiles on Potential Occupational Hazards."
NIOSH 1977 Oct:76-85
The molecular formula, chemical abstracts service number, registry of toxic effects of chemical substances number, production figures and economic trends, uses, and producer and user data are given for bromobenzene (108861) and polybrominated-biphenyls without the number information. The biological effects of exposure are described including target organs, acute, subchronic and chronic effects, and human effects. Bromobenzene affects the liver and lungs, and is a skin irritant; the main effects of polybrominated biphenyls are observed in the liver and kidneys, and they are teratogenic. The only standards established are for polybrominated- biphenyls in foods. (Contract No. 210-77-0120)
