Abstract
The molecular formula, chemical abstracts service number, registry of toxic effects of chemical substances number, production figures and economic trends, uses, and producer and user data are given for boron (7440428) and 10 of its compounds. The biological effects of exposure to these substances are described, including target organs, acute, subchronic and chronic effects, and human effects. Boric acid (10043353) has carcinogenic and teratogenic effects. The threshold limit value or standards are given for boron-oxide (1303862), boron-tribromide (10294334), diborane (1304003), and boron-trifluoride (7637072), for the latter two compounds these levels are below the odor threshold.
