Physical hazards encountered in occupational situations are reviewed, including: ultraviolet, infrared, and microwave radiation; ionizing radiation; abnormal air pressure; abnormal temperature; defective illumination; noise and vibration. Potential occupational exposures to these physical hazards are listed, and information is given on biological effects of exposure to physical agents, disorders caused by occupational exposure to physical hazards, prevention, and the effects of chronic exposure.
