Abstract
Non-ionizing radiation is defined and the nature of electromagnetic energy is discussed. Physical characteristics, representative sources, biological effects, exposure criteria, measurement and control measures are described for ultraviolet radiation, laser radiation and microwave radiation. Appendices include useful radiometric and related units, conversion factors, and general absorption properties of the eye for electromagnetic radiation.
