Abstract
This brochure summarizes the principles and guidelines derived from the NIOSH Hospital Occupational Health Services Study, conducted by NIOSH. The study surveyed programs for employee safety and health in almost 4,000 general hospitals. The main topics covered are: pre- employment medical examinations; periodic health maintenance procedures; health and safety education; immunization practices; care of illness and injury at work; personal health counseling; environmental control and surveillance; health and safety records system; coordinated planning with other hospital departments and services.
