Abstract
A method is described for the determination of xylene (1330207) in the air by drawing a known volume of air through a charcoal tube to collect the analyte followed by desorption with carbon-disulfide and analysis by gas chromatography. The area of the resulting peak is compared with areas obtained for standards. Data are given on the principle, range and sensitivity, interference, precision, accuracy, advantages and disadvantages of the method. Also described are the apparatus, reagents, and procedures used, analysis of samples; interferences; calibration and standards; and calculations.
