Abstract
The standard method is described for the determination of ethyl- silicate (78104) in air for use in compliance with the OSHA standard of 100ppm (850 milligrams per cubic meter). The air sample is drawn through a tube containing XAD-2 resin to adsorb the analyte, with subsequent desorption by carbon-disulfide, analysis with gas chromatography and comparison with reference samples. The method has been validated over the range of 377-1620 milligrams per cubic meter, with a coefficient of variation of 0.056. Other information and data are given on the interferences, advantages and disadvantages, apparatus, reagents, procedure, analysis of samples, determination of desorption efficiency, calibration and standards, and calculations.
