Cincinnati, OH: U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, Public Health Service, Centers for Disease Control, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, HHE 76-67 and HHE 77-30-4051977, Jul; :1-11
A Health Hazard Evaluation investigation was conducted by NIOSH at the Fischer and Porter Company, in Warminster, Pa., on June 14-15 and March 10 and 31, 1977, acting on a request from an authorized employee representative regarding dizziness and nausea at the force motor assembly and gluing operations, and drying of nostrils in the area of "Heliweld Automatic, MIC/TIG welder". Interviews of about 20 affected employees and observations of working conditions revealed that employees were not exposed to toxic concentrations of organic vapors in the force motor assembly area. Potentially toxic exposures to ozone (10028156) were noted at the automatic MIG/TIG welding operation in the welding department. Recommendations are made for improved exhaust ventilation, air monitoring for ozone and periodic medical examinations.
