Health and safety standards for agriculture.
Conference on agricultural health and safety, proceedings of a symposium, September 4-5, 1974, Iowa City, Iowa. Berry CM, Beard R, Finklea J, Lloyd W, eds. New York: Society for Occupational and Environmental Health, 1975 Jul; :233-241
The work and progress of the Agricultural Advisory Committee to the United States Department of Labor is reported. Three top priority problems were identified as tractor overturns, machine guarding, and airborne hazards. The roll over protective structures standards has been developed, the machine guarding standard is under development, but a standard for airborne hazards has been delayed for lack of data. This problem has also delayed the standard on pesticides. Standards are being developed for livestock handling, personal protective equipment, walk and working surfaces, hand and portable power tools, noise, and electrical hazards. A special subcommittee is working on education.
