Abstract
The quantitative development is traced of the glove criteria which are summarized in the recommendations for glove standards in volume I. The criteria are based on hand protection and other requirements and design considerations. The test method devised for validating the protective and other properties of firefighters' gloves are described. Methods for resistance to cutting, puncturing, heat and water penetration, electricity, and for dexterity and durability are given.
