Industrial hygiene inspection procedures guide. Volume 2. Hazardous materials data sheets.
NIOSH 1974 Jan; 2:1-577
Second of three volumes of a manual intended to provide industrial hygienists with essential information to be used in industrial surveys in order to evaluate the working environment. Individual data sheets of selected hazardous substances and conditions provide detailed information on each agent. The main topics covered by the data sheets are: chemical and physical characteristics of the agent, such as vapor density, boiling point, explosive limits, specific gravity, flash point, state, autoignition, solubility, reactivity and corrosiveness; toxicological properties, including threshold limit value, mode of entrance to body; diagnostic signs, symptoms and effects, industrial occurrence; field sampling and laboratory sampling methods. The data sheets cover a long list of more than 550 agents, mainly organic compounds, but also inorganic compounds, vibration, ionizing radiation, heat and cold stress, microwaves, sunlight, ultraviolet, infrared and laser radiation, pressure extremes, electrical shock, explosives and various dusts. (Contract No. 099-72-0097)
