Sound Measurement - A Basic Course.
NIOSH 1972 Oct:126 pages
A basic course is developed in sound measurement, based on the requirements as set forth in P.L. 91-956, Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, with the objective of providing a means of developing qualified manpower to perform the sound exposure monitoring and the examining function. The course is designed to upgrade the trainee's understanding of physics of sound and sound distribution, standards and criteria for meaningful measurement, and applied sound measurement procedures and data analysis. Lessons are: physics of sound propagation, sound measures, vibration and sound generation, superposition of sound, spatial sound distribution, human responses and sound simulation, criteria and standards for meaningful measures, instrumentation, field measurement, data analysis, and sound measurement laboratory including laboratory report format, exercises, field survey, spatial sound generation, sound location and attenuation, measurement and recording procedure, and analysis.
