The face shield flammability test procedure used by the Testing and Certification Branch of NIOSH is described. Included are special safety precautions to be taken during the testing, equipment requirements, calibration procedures, tabulation of data, use of a control number, classifications of results (burning, self- extinguishing and improperly lighted), symbols, specimen preparation, equipment preparation, testing, analysis of data and maintenance. A glossary of terms is included as well as a sample data sheet and a diagram of the equipment arrangement.
