Let's get some answers on nurse role expansion.
Int J Occup Health Saf 1976 Mar/Apr; 45(2):28-31
The role of the occupational health nurse is discussed with regard to the need for enlarging the role, the acceptance of a larger role by the nurse and physician and steps for an occupational nurse to take to prepare for a larger role. Considerations include the shortage of occupational physicians, examples of expanded roles or clinical judgment and of management in large occupational health departments (Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Canadian Bell Telephone Company, IBM and New York Telephone Company), educational programs and certification and working in the occupational health team.
