Noise control techniques are discussed with attention given to the source, the path, and the receiver. Appropriate measurements are required. The preferred order of applying control methods is considered to be: modifying the source to reduce the transmitted sound or vibrational energy; blocking the airborne or structure borne vibration paths, and using administrative controls or personal protective equipment at the receiver.
