Information indicating a potential health hazard for persons exposed to asbestos during the servicing of motor vehicle brake and clutch assemblies.
NIOSH 1975 Aug; :1-9
Background information is provided on the potential health hazard for persons exposed to asbestos during the servicing of motor vehicle brake and clutch assemblies. Rules and regulations regarding asbestos are appended. A review of the literature on the association between asbestos exposure and mesothelial tumors of the pleura and peritoneum shows four cases of such tumors in persons employed in jobs involving automobile brake servicing. The need for instituting and maintaining recommended control measures in the brake lining service industry is indicated.
