Background information is provided on 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM), also known as p,p'-methylenedianiline (MDA) (101779), used as an epoxy hardening agent and as a raw material in the production of polyurethane elastomers and poly(amide-imide) resins. Reference is made to the hepatotoxic and carcinogenic effects of DDM in animals and human beings.
