A terminal progress report on electron microscopic studies of the effects of commonly used skin irritants such as kerosene (8008206) and acetone (67641), their intimate mechanism and role in primary irritant dermatitis. Cell ultrastructural events, cytoarchitecture and cell surface changes, and the role of lipid solvents on DNA, protein and collagen synthesis are studied.
