Walk-Through Survey of the Flanders Filters Company Fibrous Glass Paper Operations, Washington, North Carolina.

Report of a NIOSH survey conducted at the Flanders Filters Company Fibrous Glass Paper Operations (SIC-2621), Washington, North Carolina. The production of filtration paper using fibrous glass "microfibers" is described and preliminary samples of air are analyzed for airborne fibrous glass. The major potential health hazards observed during the survey are respiratory exposure to small diameter fibrous glass, respiratory exposure during fabrication, and solvent exposures in the filter fabrication operations. Safety measures are suggested.
