Legal aspects of occupational mental health nursing.

A review is made of the legal aspects of occupational mental health nursing. Topics include the concept and program of mental health, parties in the duty-right relationship, standard of care, patient records, court decisions, and legislation. The expanding functions of the occupational health nurse include the counseling of workers in the interest of promoting mental health, and reporting and referring the patient to treatment after observing and listening to the worker, and acting within the limits of her legal competence.
