Air pollutants and lung clearance of particles.

Experiments are reported on inert particle clearance from normal lungs, and effects of sulfur-dioxide (7446095), nitrogen oxides, and asbestos (1332214) on inert particle clearance, using titanium- dioxide (1309633) as the inert particle. Low levels of sulfur- dioxide stimulate particle clearance, high levels depress it; nitrogen-oxide depresses particle clearance; and high levels of asbestos depress clearance.
