Toxicity determinations through environmental measurements and employee surveys indicate that employee exposures to acetic-acid (64197) and formaldehyde (50000) vapors in the hand print room of a photographic library are not toxic in the concentrations measured. Potentially toxic air concentrations of acetic-acid are found in the chemical mix in the loft area; exposures to formaldehyde in the loft air are not found to be toxic. Recommendations are made for improvement of exhaust ventilation, with respirators being worn during interim mixing of chemicals.
