Cincinnati, OH: U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, Public Health Service, Centers for Disease Control, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, HHE 73-78-60, 1973 Aug; :1-9
Environmental survey reveals no hazardous concentrations of styrene (100425), methylene chloride (75092), toluene (108883), acetone (67641), and methylene bisphenyl isocyanate (MDI) in a plant manufacturing reinforced plastic tanks. Medical evaluation of workers shows no symptoms of exposure to toxic concentrations and normal pulmonary function tests. Recommendations include continued maintenance of ventilation systems, regular medical monitoring, use of respirators by polyurethane foam (9009545) machine operators, and use of respirators and fire prevention precautions in confined areas containing organic vapors, and relocation of workers showing sensitivity to MDI.
