Extra-auditory effects of occupational noise part II: effects on work performance.

The complex nature of noise effects on performance is reviewed with enumeration of factors which singly, or in combination, influence such effects. Topics include: acoustic (or other environmental) variables, task performance variables, and human subject variables, aspects of annoyance, and extra auditory physiological effects with data given for noise frequency and levels measured against annoyance ratings, symptomatic complaints, absenteeism, and performance.
