The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Hearing Loss Prevention Program focuses on reducing occupational hearing loss through research on controlling hazardous noise, developing engineering noise controls, ensuring hearing protectors are used effectively, performing occupational hearing loss surveillance, and investigating damage risk criteria for impulse noise. The Program works with partners in industry, labor, trade associations, professional organizations, and academia.
