NIOSH researchers worked with professionals in the industry to figure out how artists can be exposed to blood and bloodborne pathogens. Based on visits to piercing and tattooing shops and interviews with practicing artists, materials were developed to better inform artists of these diseases, how artists can be exposed, and reinforce safe practices to reduce the chances of exposure. The “Good, Clean Art” post card provides information on reducing cross-contamination within the body art industry.
