I'm Dawn Sievert, senior science advisor for the Antimicrobial Resistance Coordination and Strategy Unit. In 2021, we launched the Global Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory and Response Network in collaboration with partners. This One Health-focused collaboration spans 50 countries and strengthens our global capacity to reduce antimicrobial resistance. Data show AR infections and deaths in U.S. hospitals worsened during the pandemic and increased 15% in 2020. These setbacks can and must be temporary. Going forward, the global network will help us stop AR threats when and where they emerge, and it will expand our understanding of how AR is impacted by other cross-cutting issues like climate change and social inequity.
