2019 Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) for Infectious Diseases Annual Meeting

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of Preparedness and Emerging Infections (DPEI) is hosting the 2019 Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Infectious Diseases (ELC) Annual Meeting which will take place April 2-4, 2019. The meeting will be held in the Global Communications Center at CDC’s Roybal Campus in Atlanta, GA. Participants will include state, local, and territorial leaders in epidemiology, laboratory, and health information systems, as well as infection control professionals, and national partners. As a key partner, we are inviting you to attend; however, we ask that each ELC-funded jurisdiction limit the number of attendees to no more than five (5) attendees, so please coordinate with your ELC Principal Investigator (PI) to determine who should attend.


If you plan to attend any of the meetings mentioned above, please follow these four (4) important steps:

1. REGISTER FOR THE MEETING

  • In order to attend, you must register.
    • Registration will ensure you are cleared through CDC Security in time to attend the 2019 ELC Annual Meeting (walkups will not be allowed entry to the CDC campus).
    • Each person attending needs to register (last-minute requests and/or substitutions are not permitted).
  • Registration is free … so even if you are unsure about ability to attend it is advisable that you go ahead and register to secure a spot (you may cancel your registration if you are unable to attend).
  • Once registered, you will receive your ticket via email for attendance along with additional information regarding the meeting logistics, etc.
  • Registration will remain open until Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 5:00pm ET.

2. ORDER YOUR LUNCH

  • Food service provided by Jerry’s Famous Catering so place your order in two (2) ways:

    • A discounted, flat rate of $20.00/day has been arranged for 2019 ELC Annual Meeting Please keep in mind that the daily rate includes:
      1. Morning break service (coffee/tea and a snack) which is only available through the caterer.
      2. Lunch
      3. Afternoon break service (beverage and snack) which is only available through the caterer.
  • Get your order in before the March 18, 2018 cut-off.
  • If you do not want morning coffee/tea &/or afternoon beverage and snack service (and want to do lunch on your own) then you do have the option going across the street to Emory Point and dine at one of the many restaurants in the complex. However, please keep in mind that each time you return to CDC you will need to go through Security and be escorted back to the meeting space so you may end up missing some of the meeting and opportunities to network.

3. RESERVE YOUR HOTEL

Two hotels in the area have room blocks at the government rate of $152.00/night; however, it is anticipated that the rooms will sell out so make your reservations early.

  • Courtyard Atlanta Executive Park/Emory – located at 1236 Executive Park Drive, Atlanta, GA 30329.
    • Room block expires Monday, March 11, 2019, or when the rooms sell out (whichever comes first).

    • Be sure to ask about the complimentary shuttle service.

4. MARK YOUR CALENDAR TO ATTEND THE ELC SOCIAL EVENT ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3rd

On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, the ELC Team invites all guests across the street from CDC to Tin Lizzy’s Cantina which is located in the Emory Point complex.

We are planning to gather from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Tin Lizzy’s to unwind and socialize. Be sure to bring either your meeting badge or your registration ticket to receive discounts on food and beverages.
