Warning signs of heat stroke vary but may include
 

         An extremely high body temperature (104°F or above, rectally*)

         Red, hot, and dry or moist skin

         Rapid, strong pulse

         Throbbing headache

         Dizziness

         Nausea

         Confusion

         Unconsciousness

Note:  Confusion on the field may include missed assignments or not understanding the play.  The athlete may not realize that he or she is confused—this symptom is usually observed by others.  

If you suspect heat stroke, seek medical attention immediately!

*Temperature taken rectally is the most accurate method.
