DD19-1906: Helping States to Collect Sickle Cell Disease Data

CDC funded nine states for 1 year to build capacity for a statewide SCD surveillance (health monitoring) system: seven states developed new frameworks for their surveillance systems and two states provided technical assistance based on their SCD surveillance knowledge and experience. Capacity building was achieved through a series of web-based learning sessions, in-person meetings, in-state and cross-state relationship building, and ongoing communication to create required partnerships, data sharing agreements, and the necessary data storage system.
