Health Literacy

Every October, we celebrate Health Literacy Month — a time to recognize the importance of making health information easy to understand and the health care system easier to navigate. Reliable health information is essential to prevent and manage disease, promote better health, and follow public health recommendations and warnings. Yet, differences in access to formal education and literacy training persist, because of  the technical nature of health information, which may compromise the ability for one to make sense of public health messaging.
